Here are some answers to questions you might have following a telephone call from us.

Q: Where has the call come from?

A: Our telephone interviewing centre is based in London Docklands and makes calls from two numbers, they are either 020 7712 0101 or 020 7860 0101.
We know that some people are reluctant to answer calls from numbers that they don't recognise, so we have prepared this information page for people who receive a call from us and then search for the number that called them. It explains who we are, why we are calling and will hopefully answer any other questions you may have.

Q: Why have I received a call from 020 7712 0101 or 020 7860 0101?

A: You have received a call from Infocorp; we are a healthcare, social and market research company. We have most probably called you to invite you to take part in a survey or focus group; or we may have called you if you have taken part in face-to-face interviewing with us.

Q: I don't want to take part in your research, why do you keep calling me?

A: We want to include as many people as possible in the surveys we conduct so we will try calling each number we have many times as we assume an unanswered call means you are not available at that time. If our call is answered we will explain why we are calling and invite you to take part, if you don’t want to participate, just tell us, we will not pressurise you and we will not call you again. Many people enjoy taking part in surveys and giving their views, but nobody is obliged to take part and we will always respect your views.

Q: I’m registered with the TPS / ex-directory, why have you still called me?

A: Calls made for the purpose of research are exempt from TPS (Telephone Preference Service) which only applies to sales and marketing calls. Further details can be found on the TPS FAQ page. The numbers we call are either from client supplied databases, randomly generated or from commercial sources of numbers who have consented to receive this type of call. We do therefore include ex-directory numbers in our samples and no regulations prohibit this.

Q:Will registering on the TPS stop market research calls?

A: No, market research calls are not covered in the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 therefore we are still allowed to call a TPS registered number. If you do not want to receive calls from us then please ask us not to call you again – see the next question for information on how to do this.

Q: How do I make sure you don’t call me again?

A: If you do not wish to take part in any survey from Infocorp, please email your name and telephone number to and ask for your name to be excluded. Alternatively, please wait until we call you again and tell our interviewer you do not wish to participate in any surveys. They will be happy to record this and we will not call you again. Please note: in order to do this, we will need to store your number on a database to ensure we can exclude your number on future studies, as they are generated at random for many studies, and so to avoid any chance of us re-contacting you, we need to retain your number. We promise that we will not disclose your details to any third party, nor will they be used for any other purpose.

Q: Where did you get my number?

A: We get phone numbers from a variety of sources. Sometimes they are provided by our clients. Alternatively we may purchase telephone numbers from commercially available sources. Lastly we may randomly generate them.

Q: Why have you called me at such an inconvenient time?

A: We generally make our calls from 9am - 9pm on weekdays and 10am - 6pm at weekends. If we are calling people in their homes we find they are generally available in the evening. If we are calling people at their place or work, it’s likely to be during the day. We follow Market Research Society guidelines and never call people after 9pm at night. If you are interested in taking part at a different time of day our interviewers will be able to make an appointment for a time that suits you, just ask.

Q: Who regulates your company?

A: Infocorp is compliant with the Market Research Society (MRS) Code of Conduct and follows the policies and guidelines set by the MRS in processing, storing, transferring and destroying data. We also observe Interviewer Quality Control Scheme (IQCS) guidelines. We are registered with the ICO and comply fully with the Data Protection Act.

Q: Why didn’t you leave an answer on my answer-phone?

A: Sometimes we are bound by the Data Protection Act; this means we can only discuss the purpose of our call with the person we are trying to contact. If we left a message for you and this was picked up by someone else, this would be a breach of your privacy.

Q: Who can I contact you with additional questions or comments?

A: You can contact us by telephone during office hours on 020 7712 0101 or email
